(In South Africa) Diepkloof Protest Over Service Delivery Turns Deadly: Two Killed, One Injured

 








Diepkloof, a section of Soweto township where a protest organised by hostel students occurred on Monday, 19 May.

The protest which led to a road closure at the Diepkloof interchange in Johannesburg, was organised to demand the supply of water, sanitation and development in the area.



In the course of the protest, a pedestrian was struck by a car and later died in the hospital. 

A truck driver who tried to flee from stone-throwing protesters drove into the hostel area, hitting two people. A man died from the impact while a severely wounded woman was taken to the hospital. protest,
