(In Nigeria) Activist Aisha Yesufu Challenges Lagos Commissioner Over “Lagos Smells” Criticism

 

Activist Aisha Yesufu responded to Lagos Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, after he criticized individuals who have been saying “Lagos smells.” 

In her reply, Aisha Yesufu challenged the commissioner’s stance, emphasizing that concerns about Lagos’s sanitation and environmental issues are valid and should not be dismissed. She pointed out that criticism does not equate to negativity but reflects genuine issues faced by residents, and it is the responsibility of government officials to address these concerns seriously.

Yesufu advised that instead of attacking those raising valid concerns, authorities should focus on implementing sustainable solutions to improve the city’s cleanliness and environment. Her response has sparked widespread discussion on social media, highlighting the importance of accountability and constructive dialogue in addressing urban sanitation challenges.
