Trump Opponents Gear Up for Nationwide Protests: 'Hands Off!' Movement Spreads Across US

Trump opponents ready to take to streets with nationwide protests

Opponents of President Donald Trump are organizing nationwide protests, with around 1,200 demonstrations planned across the US on Saturday. The "Hands Off!" protests aim to express displeasure with Trump's sweeping changes to US foreign and domestic policy through executive orders. This movement is expected to be the largest single day of protest against Trump and his ally Elon Musk since the administration began its conservative overhaul of government.

Approximately 1,200 events are planned across all 50 states, with additional protests in Canada, Britain, France, Germany, Mexico, and Portugal. Over 150 activist groups have signed up, including prominent organizations like the Service Employees International Union, Human Rights Campaign, and Greenpeace. One of the largest rallies is anticipated on Washington's National Mall, with pro-Palestinian groups also planning to participate and carry out a march. The protests are a response to Trump's rapid-fire effort to reshape government and consolidate presidential authority, which critics argue is aligned with the conservative Project 2025 initiative. Trump's supporters see his actions as necessary to disrupt entrenched liberal interests, but opponents claim his policies threaten democracy, communities, schools, and vulnerable populations. In Massachusetts, for example, a coalition of resistance groups is taking to the streets with a clear message: "Hands off!" - emphasizing their commitment to protecting their neighbors and democracy.
